TERRY SLESSER
Website Launched
a.k.a Terry Wilson-Slesser. A world class vocalist from the N.E of England who started his career in the clubs and pubs of Newcastle on Tyne and surrounding area.
Spotted by top promoter Geoff Docherty, Terry, and his band at the time Beckett, were asked by Ricky Barnes to play at the Top Ten Club in Hamburg where they played 8 sets a night for a 15 day stint - a feat which they repeated weeks later. It was these Hamburg gigs that made the band so tight, that lead to a deal with W.E.A records: Ricky Barnes' stories of THE BEATLES and their time at the Star Club and the Top Ten were fascinating to the young Sless - an album produced by Roger Chapman - and one of Noel Edmonds' favourite singles ‘Little Girl' was released.
Major tours with Slade, Rod Stewart & Faces, Capt BeefHeart, Wizzard, 'Free' and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - with whom Terry guested at Reading Festival 1974 (courtesy of the magnificent Jack Barry from the Marquee club where Sless made countless appearances with various luminaries i.e. Crawler, Huey Lewis & Phil Lynott)

Wednesday - March 1, 2006 Queen + Paul Rodgers
Check out for your local affiliate station HERE

While there is no denying that both the CD and DVD of Queen + Paul Rodgers "Return of the Champions" is spectacular to hear and to watch, there can be no comparison to witnessing this tour de force in person. Now, you have the limited opportunity to do exactly that. It's a chance to be there to see Rock history first hand, an evening to file in your memory bank for immediate recall any time you choose. We at ROCKLINE strongly suggest you have tickets in hand well before they head your way. The extravaganza begins March 3rd in Miami, FL and steamrolls its way into twenty-three carefully selected, and highly fortunate, North American cities. Allow us to make the acquisition of tickets easy for you. Simply log on at QueenPlusPaulRodgers.com and click on tour dates. You can take it from there.
We feel very fortunate that the Champions are returning to our show to chat with you directly, and fill the air with some of the best music ever created and performed. The last time the gentlemen (and kick ass Rockers) joined us many months ago they had but two certain concert dates, one each in the New York City and Los Angeles areas. With nearly two dozen concerts planned things have certainly changed, much as the set list has compared to the CD and DVD recorded in Sheffield, England last year. Let's face it; there are simply too many good songs available from these Rock superstars to not shake things up a bit. This is a fact good for us and, no doubt, stimulating for the band as well. Fortunately, with Queen and Paul Rodgers there is a vast repertoire from which to choose and many of their songs are transcendent and have become full blown anthems. Each upcoming show promises to be a night to remember. Ask anyone who saw them in New York or L.A.
If you missed your chance to speak with Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers last time, here comes another one. But, as with this historical tour itself, it could be your last chance, at least with this dynamic pairing. DON'T MISS THE SHOW!!! Queen + Paul Rodgers live in concert and their appearance on ROCKLINE! |

| Simon returns from Fantasy Camp |
Update from Simon Kirke.
Hi everybody...
I just returned from the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. It was very satisfying but very tiring. I had to whip a band of 8 musicians (five of which were guitarists!) into a reasonable rock band in just 4 days. There were roughly 120 campers divided into 12 bands. Roger Daltrey was on hand once again as were Cheap Trick, Lisa Loeb, Tommy Shaw from Styx and Neal Schon the guitar whiz from Journey. Each band had to lear a classic rock song as well as a Who song for a battle of the bands at the House of Blues in Hollywood . My band-which I dubbed "Leap of Faith"- did Movin On and Join Together in the Band...and we came in 2nd . I was elated to see the faces of my band as they had worked so hard to get it right. We must have done each song a hundered times but the work paid off. Joaquin Phoenix made a suprise visit and we wished him well at the Oscars next month. If anyone was at the gigs at the Bein Inn send in a review...tell me what you thought. I had a ball by the way. Cant wait to go back there again.
 Best to everyone: Simon.

Frankie's new album is to be released through JERKIN CROCUS RECORDS.
Jerkin' Crocus proudly announce the release of the new Frankie Miller album - Long Way Home.
Lovingly packaged in a Japanese style gatefold card sleeve and pressed on replica vinyl cd's, the album is due for release on February 27th, with pre-sales available now.
The tracklisting:
Guilty of the Crime Win Lose or Draw You Always Saw Blue Skies Loving too Easy He'll Have to Go You're the Star Over the Line The Rose Baton Rouge Lies Tell the Best Truth of All It's a Long Way Home
Music fans should need no introduction to Frankie Miller the man described by Rod Stewart as, “the greatest white singer ever”, but for the uninitiated, here’s a brief synopsis. Frankie recorded nine chart albums for the Chrysalis and Mercury labels between 1972 - 1986 which yielded between them the hit singles, Be Good To Yourself and Darlin’. He is one of the legends of the British music scene, with a powerful voice that has drawn numerous comparisons. His distinctive voice and song writing ability have earned him the respect of his peers and that is reflected in the number of world renowned artists, including Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker, Etta James, Cher, The Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Ray Charles, who have covered his songs.
Here at long last, is an album of previously unreleased material recorded in the 1990‘s. The album showcases Frankie’s legendary vocal talents as well as focusing on Frankie the songwriter. One number, You’re The Star has already been a 1995 hit single for Rod Stewart. The album features appearances from, amongst others, The Eagles’ Joe Walsh, Nicky Hopkins of The Jeff Beck Group and Ian Wallace (King Crimson / Bob Dylan), who alongside Chrissie Stewart made up the band Fire And Brimstone. The numbers included here from this line up include the much sought after Guilty Of The Crime. Co-writers on the album include Will Jennings (Eric Clapton / Celine Dion) and Jerry Lynn Williams (Eric Clapton). Frankie the interpreter is highlighted on the album’s two cover versions, The Rose the song made famous by Bette Midler in the film of the same name and He’ll Have To Go previously immortalised by country legend Jim Reeves.
The album cuts a path from acoustic ballads to out and out rockers via country and soul tinged tracks, encapsulating Frankie‘s wide variety of musical styles.
From Bridgeton Scotland via international success across America and Europe it’s been A Long Way Home.

The-Volts were born out of a lack of great new, young, Guitar Riff driven classic Brit Rock bands. I spoke with Ben, a great drummer, who he had been working with alongside Roger Daltry and Alice Cooper, about the idea of putting together a band of potential iconic musicians in that circa 72 classic period of bands like Free, The Who, Cream and Floyd etc. We found a great young singer who had a voice like a young Paul Rodgers, a young guitarist who had been working with Paul McCartney and a bass player who had a feel like a young Andy Fraser, and The-Volts were born. Andy Fraser (Who was the original bass player in Free) very kindly, after contacting him via email, offered to lend his ears and opinions to the demos we were cutting, and is really loving the project. He said to me in all his years as a great player and classic songwriter, he had never been asked to act as a critique and that this opportunity was very exciting for him. For fifteen years now in the UK I have been running a session agency representing over 4000 of the very best young musicians in the country and I have worked and put live bands together for artists like Elton John, Sting, George Michael, and many others, and let me tell you, The-Volts, kick real Ass!! Between them the young 4 guys who range from 22-26 years old have worked with Paul McCartney, Mark Anthony, Craig David, Rushmore, Roger Daltry, Alice Cooper, Pete Townshend, Lisa Stansfield, Dido, Jewel, Kelly Clarkson, Artful Dodger and Allsaints. They have been in the studio for the past few months, and the first batch of demos are now ready, we have already had interest from Sony Playstation, Radio 1, and several large booking agencies, which is a great early start for us. |
