Grahams Number meet Paul Rodgers in Meza Arizona Oct 2011

A Tribute to Paul Rodgers and Free

It was a 8 hour drive over from where we live in California, but it was going to be the first time we could hear Graham's Number play live, and we couldn't miss it! This great 3 piece from Atlanta were opening for Paul Rodgers at Chester's Harley Davidson for a day of music called the RocktoberFest, and what a day it was.
For those of you who have never had the opportunity to see this band live, y...ou MUST do so, we were really impressed with how well they played and how tight the set was. Most of their music is original, a great mix of southern and classic rock sounds and reggae grooves. Just so much fun to listen to. We hope to be able to hear them play again real soon, as they have become our new favorite band! Check them out if you have the chance, it'll make for a great night of music. Thanks guys, you did not disappoint!!

Atlanta Spotlight: Graham's Number

Good afternoon beautiful peoples,

Wanted to shed some light on an up and coming Atlanta Band, Graham's Number. Was lucky enough to split the bill with them last night @ Rye Bar....they got the dancefloor movin'!! They blend funky dub reggae with a taste of psychedelic and indie rock. The 3 piece really knows how to get down, and put on a hell of a show.
Here is their bio from their official website...

http://www.grahamsnumbermusic.com/#!

"Graham's Number is an upcoming Atlanta band of three with extraordinary potential and a cutting edge new sound. They combine traditional song writing with new innovative sounds, incorporating an array of styles into their music with influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles, to The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Sublime. Based in Marietta GA, Grahams Number got it's start with guitarist, Nick Sanders, teaming up with best friend, bass guitarist Andy Scherm. In July 2009 drummer/songwriter, Brandon McKinney, was added to complete the line up. The chemistry these young men have together bring back recollections of greats such as the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Rush."

***Make sure to catch these guys on the road, their show will definitely not disappoint! I'm glad to call them friends, and can't wait to work with them in the future.

Artist Bio

Nic Sanders - Guitar/Vocals - Born 1990 in Atlanta, he began his musical adventure at 11. Impacted by personal, real, raw, magical, down-right soulful music, at 15, he set his heart on playing music that made one think & feel a deep sense of awareness of one's soul & consciousness, a message of love, peace & oneness of all mankind. He uses his heart & soul as his teacher to create music that's not bound by age, ethnicity or culture. -- Brandon McKinney - Drums/Percussion/Vocals - Born 1990, raised around Atlanta, he started playing bass at 5. He got his first drum set at 7 & played drums in worship bands at 11. He has an adventurous nature, has always been very curious & loves learning. He plays music because it gets him high, seeing music as a way to express passion, but also as a dangerous tool, because music is extremely manipulative; people’s passions often aren’t positive ones. -- Andy Scherm - Bass/Vocals - Born 1989 in Atlanta, he discovered his interest & love for music at 11, & joined the orchestra playing the stand up bass. Three years later he was introduced to the bass guitar. A spiritual message inspired his input into this transfusion of soulful, raw, in-your-face music. He gets carried away by just picking up an instrument & playing. To Andy, music is very real and personal.

A baby band winner, Bon Jovi-dissing disqualification emerge at Hard Rock Battle of the Bands finals
Posted 2/25/2011 9:13:00 AM
After four grueling weeks of competition, Atlanta rock trio Graham's Number will represent our city in the nationals of the annual Hard Rock Cafe's Battle of the Bands competition. With a crazy amount of crowd support, tight musicianship and a spirited stage show at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown early Friday morning, Graham's Number squeaked out a win with their deft blend of old school Jimi Hendrix-era rock, soul and reggae influences.

Most astonishingly, only one out of the three kids in the act could legally drink inside the bar. Guitarist and vocalist Nic Sanders and drummer Brandon McKinney are just 20-years-old while bassist Andy Scherm is the elder of the act at 21. Sanders and McKinney met as students at Osborne High School while Scherm graduated from Pope High School.

The winners of the national competition will open for Bon Jovi in Hyde Park in London later this year. Band Battle judge and Ticket Alternative president Iain Bluett told us privately: "They would just be the perfect band to listen to outside in the sun in Hyde Park out of all the acts we saw tonight."

Other finalists with huge fan support Thursday night included Wesley Cook and Life & Limb. As part of the finals, each band was required to perform a cover of a Bon Jovi tune to be filmed and later used for the nationals competition. Atlanta finalists The Nominees chose a mash up of of the New Jersey rockers' classic "Livin' on a Prayer," combining it with Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." Atlanta rock quartet The Swear battled sound issues while banging through an impressive rendition of their original "Vampire" and guitarist Jeremy Zamora donned a pin-adorned jean jacket for their cover of the late 1980s prom classic "Never Say Goodbye."

The evening's award for Best Rock Attitude went hip-hop/rock act United Streets of Atlanta, who scored well with the judges and were possibly poised to win it all until they were disqualified from the competition after refusing to play a Bon Jovi cover during their three-song set. Instead, they used the high profile gig to promote the band's debut album release party tonight at Vinyl in Midtown at 8 p.m.
